Rho Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. hosted its annual Brother Dr. O. Wilson Winters Memorial Scholarship Program recently, awarding almost $15,000 in college scholarships and book awards.

In alignment with the fraternity’s aim of “manly deeds, scholarship and love for all mankind,” the Brother Dr. O. Wilson Winters Memorial Scholarship Program, consisting of the Rho Chapter Awards, Watkins Family Memorial College Awards, Whitney Family Memorial High School Awards, and Paul F. Frost Memorial Awards, provides young men from the greater Philadelphia region with monetary awards to assist in their educational pursuits.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. is among the oldest and most loyal investors in higher education in the United States. The fraternity began as a study group of Black men who defied racial segregation at Cornell University in 1906. Its concepts for community advancement and inclusion in higher education have created 706 chapters throughout the U.S., Africa, West Indies, Europe, Asia and the Virgin Islands.
